Ted Karstadt – Guitar
Ted Karstadt gives private lessons ideal for beginners of all ages. Ted originally wanted this store because he wanted a place where people could share his love for music, and take lessons. Becky Bennett – Piano
Becky Bennett is accepting beginner thru intermediate students. She loves teaching and playing the piano and has many years experience as a teacher. Becky plays piano for the Verde Valley Nazarene Church and the Wesleyan Methodist Church.
Katherine LaTorraca – Vocal
Katherine is an international award-winning vocalist, composer and voice teacher with extensive credits in opera, musical theater and inspirational music, performing throughout the United States and Europe. She has made guest appearances with the Rome Festival Opera, The Washington Opera, the United States Army Field Band & Soldiers’ Chorus and is winner of the prestigious Jenny Lind Competition. Katherine holds degrees of Master of Music in Voice and Opera from The Boston Conservatory of Music, and Bachelor of Music in Voice from New England Conservatory of Music. She has served as music director and soloist for many churches and children’s musical theater groups. She teaches voice at Yavapai College and in her private studio, applying healthy vocal technique to a variety of music styles and inspiring confidence in singers of all levels of development.
Mimi Papp – Violin
Mimi Papp attended the New School of Music in Philadelphia where her principal instructors were Jascha Brodsky and Yumi Ninomiya Scott (members of the Curtis String Quartet).
She received her violin performance degree from the Manhattan School of Music where she studied with Burton Kaplan. Mimi became certified to teach the Suzuki method at the School for Strings in New York City, under the direction of Louse Behrend. Mimi considers her principal mentor to be Richard Simon former violinist of the New York Philharmonic. Prior to relocating to the Southwest, Mimi held positions with the New Orleans and Florida Symphonies and was an active freelance violinist in New York, Philadelphia and Baltimore. From 1992 until 2000 Mimi was based in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania where she was an adjunct faculty member of the Moravian College Music Department. She was a founding member of the chamber ensemble Satori and a member of the violin faculty at the Kinhaven Music School ( a summer music program) in Weston, VT.
In 2003 she relocated to Tucson, AZ and more recently to Sedona with her husband, violinist Tom Ginsberg. Mimi continues to freelance with the Arizona Opera, Tucson Symphony and the Flagstaff Symphony Orchestras. Currently she is the violin instructor at Desert Star Community School (a Waldorf Charter School in Cornville, AZ). Her many interests include yoga, horseback riding, cooking and hiking.
